L. RAUSCH MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT |
Please join us on Monday, September 14th, 2009, for a 12:45 PM shotgun scramble tournament at Whittier Narrows Golf Course (an Arnold Palmer managed facility).
For the past 13 years, the contributions and participation of customers, purveyors, local businesses and the community have helped make this tournament a huge success. With many unique and fun prizes, and a few surprises, it's truly a fun day for everyone. We look forward to continuing this tradition with you.
Thirteen years ago, we celebrated our 50th year in business with our first golf tournament. It commemorated our legacy and provided a special way to give back our fortunate success.
Edward's is proud to again sponsor the San Gabriel Valley Boys and Girls Club with partial proceeds from this annual event.
Please respond by August 28, 2009. Call Ken or Theresa for more information (626) 442-2400 or email: edwardsgolfinfo@yahoo.com.

We have some fun news to share with you. Edward's recently received two prestigious community awards.
Our first award is from the California State Assembly. Edward's was selected for the Outstanding Small Business Award in the City of El Monte. The award reads, "In recognition of your success in business and your outstanding contributions and service to the families and residents of the community." The award was presented to Edward's by Assemblyman Mike Eng of the California 49th District.
Our second award comes from the City of El Monte. Even casual customers of Edward's know we decorate the restaurant for all major holidays, and our Christmas decorating is the most impressive of the year. Our longtime (22 years) food server, Rick Cordova, is the creative genius for our decorating. Because of his tireless creative efforts, the City of El Monte recognized us. The city award proclaims, "In recognition of the outstanding 2008 decoration of your prestigious restaurant, Edward's Steak House, located at 9600 Flair Drive creating a positive holiday spirit for all the patrons of our community. You are an inspirational role model for your neighborhood and an outstanding member of our community."
These awards reinforce Edward's 63-year focus on serving the best in food, providing great service, and enhancing the value of your dining experience. So drop by the restaurant to admire our two newest community awards and while you are there, enjoy our great food, service and atmosphere.
At Edward's, we consider our guest to be Very Important Persons. It is your patronage that has made us successful. To show you our appreciation, we have created Edward's VIP REWARDS: to recognize and reward you for dining with us on a regular basis.
With Edward's VIP REWARDS you earn VIP Points - one for every dollar spent. Credit will be given for dine-in, to go and delivery orders.
Venerable El Monte Landmark Still Dishing Out Fresh Fare for a Reasonable Cost
EL MONTE, CA (February 6, 2009) Edwards Food Service, Inc., parent company of the popular Edwards Steak House restaurant, announced today that it is celebrating 63 years of consecutive service in Southern California. One of the regions longest running family owned and operated restaurants, Edwards features fresh food prepared from original recipes, a friendly atmosphere and a legacy unlike any left in Los Angeles.
Ken Rausch, President, commented on the companys achievement. "Our ability to survive two generations," he said, " is due in large part to our loyal patrons and our hardworking staff. We take great pleasure and pride in celebrating our 63rd year. Were now one of just a handful of survivors left, but we continue to uphold the values that have remained constant for over six decades: offering our customers consistently high quality, fresh food and never compromising on service."
Along with his wife Olga, a longtime Edwards waitress, Rausch believes another key to the restaurants longevity is its willingness to adapt the menu to changing demands. The recent addition of more main course tossed salads and weekly specials are very popular. "Youve got to listen to your customers," Rausch explained, "and track the shifts in dining behavior particularly when discretionary income is so limited its a lifelong vocation." Rausch, past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the California Restaurant Association, has worked for the restaurant for more than 30 years.
Known for its value and friendly service, Edwards is especially revered for its cut-fresh-daily fine steaks, broiled fresh fish and super lean ground beef which is hand-trimmed and ground at least once, and sometimes twice, a day. The family-friendly, unpretentious Victorian décor with sawdust-covered floors has drawn loyal customers back to Edwards for decades. Its not uncommon to encounter patrons whove made Edwards a habit for many years. Edward's VIP REWARDS CARD PROGRAM recognizes and rewards loyal patrons for dining at Edward's on a regular basis.
The full service restaurant serves lunch and dinner daily, and all menu items are available to go. Among the features that distinguish Edwards from other restaurants are its BIG AND LITTLE EATER MENUS which includes choices of several generous side dishes and caters to large and small appetites. In addition, Edwards offers catering and banquet services as well as a successful lunchtime delivery service for local businesses.
The restaurant features a full bar, including distinctive beers and an outstanding selection of wines available by the glass. HAPPY HOUR prices are in effect from 3PM-7PM weekdays with discounts on well drinks, beer and selected cocktails as well as half price appetizers. Happy Hour prices are also in effect for all Monday night football games and with three big-screen TVs, Edward's is the place to watch all your favorite televised sports.
Always adapting to changing tastes and lifestyles, Edwards launched its website in 2000. The Website features an E-MAIL CLUB for its computer-connected customers. Most recently, Edward's has added an ONLINE RESERVATIONS feature to its Website.
Edwards opened its original coffee shop in the Westlake district of downtown Los Angeles in 1946. Edward Rausch served as cook, and his wife Lynette as waitress for what started as three tables and a counter that sat l7 patrons. Over the years, Edwards prospered garnering awards and recognition from the California Restaurant Writers Association, the Cities of Los Angeles and El Monte, as well as other regional and national restaurant critics. Edwards is frequently cited in the annual Zagat Restaurant Survey as the last of the low-priced steak places. Also, Edward's was featured on KCAL Channel 9's "Nine On The Town" as one of the affordable steak houses in Southern California. In 1973, the family opened a second restaurant in El Monte to capture the growing migration to the suburbs. The original restaurant was closed permanently in 1990 after crime in the deteriorating neighborhood forced the family to concentrate its efforts on the El Monte location.
